Tell Me About... a Good Book You've Read Recently

My book club is meeting next week, and we'll be planning out our next few month's selections.

Rather than poke around and check out the "best of 2012" lists (okay, I might still do that)... I figured all of you might have some amazing recommendations! I really love to get personal book recommendations because even if someone has different tastes or interests than mine, it's not a total shot in the dark.

Our group consists of women in their late 20s and early 30s. We've read a range of books so farfiction and non-fiction, realistic and fantastic, classic and modern. But most are in the realm of mainstream/bestsellers with a broad appeal.

Please, please let me know... what's one of the best books you've read recently? I can't wait to hear what you've enjoyed.

Happy weekend, friends!

  1. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through a series and the first book is amazing (if you are not leary of antibiotics no longer working....) It's called the Plague Tales by Ann Benson.

  2. I recently finished Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, and I loved it. The story drew me and I will never think of a Kimono the say way again. I recently ordered the movie from the Library to re-watch. I can't remember how i felt about it when I first saw it years ago, but it better do the book justice or try... :0

    1. I think I picked up that book when I was much younger, but I might just have to check it out again!

  3. Have you ladies read A Thousand Splendid Suns? It's by the same author as Kite Runner but I liked it so much more. I also really like In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. (Both mainstream fiction)
