An Awesome Mail Day

I arrived home today to find a few treasures in our mailbox...

Besides the usual catalogs and bills, I also received:

1) My printed copy of Off Switch Magazine, which includes my piece, "Seasons of Change."

2) The March/April Chicago Women in Publishing Clips newsletter. The cover feature is my article, "A Guide to a Freelancer's First Year."

3) A pretty maxi dress my mom sent me.  She saw it at Marshall's and thought it looked like me.  Yep, the ruffles and the color combo are totally me.  And it fits perfectly.  I swear, my mom could be my long-distance personal shopper (ha!).

Nothing like fun mail to brighten a cloudy day.  And I'll admit it... seeing my writing in print is super cool too.

  1. Awwww. So Cool and congratulations.
I am really happy for you.

Did you learn a lot at the workshop on Saturday? I am still bummed that the DC one is on the same day as my two brother's graduation. Sucks innit?

  2. How awesome it must feel to see your byline in two places in one day!So glad that you are following your passion! Also thanks for the compliment on the dress- thought that you would look beautiful in it!

  3. Thank you, thank you!

AdeOla - I really enjoyed the workshop! I plan to post a recap of it soon. It sounds like Jess has plans for more locations, so hopefully sometime you'll be able to attend too :)

  4. Congratulations!! YOu are doing so well. How exciting to see your work in print. Try to celebrate the accomplishment. Pat

  5. Congrats! And aren't Moms awesome like that? My Mom will occassionally pick up something for me that I wouldn't buy for myself and it turns out to fit perfectly.

  6. Thank you so much for this post , I have never seen such a post like this before.
